HVAC Duct Fabricator Cum Installer

An HVAC Duct Fabricator cum Installer is a dual-role technician responsible for both the workshop production and the on-site assembly of air distribution systems.

  • Salary & emoluments: Basic 1500-2000 SAR + Food + Company Accomodation + Transportation + Insurance & Overtime by Company as per Saudi Laws.

1. Fabrication (Workshop):

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, site layouts, and SMACNA standards to determine duct dimensions and types.
  • Material Selection: Select appropriate gauges of galvanized steel, aluminum, or stainless steel based on project specs.
  • Layout & Cutting: Measure and mark sheet metal; use hand tools, plasma cutters, or shearing machines to cut pieces for straight ducts, elbows, offsets, and transitions.
  • Assembly: Operate folding machines, rollers, and spot welders to form duct shapes and seams (e.g., Pittsburgh locks, snap locks).
  • Insulation: Apply internal or external thermal and acoustic insulation (fiberglass or rubber foam) using adhesives and pins.

2. Installation (On-Site):

  • Layout Marking: Transfer blueprint coordinates to the ceiling or walls to mark support and hanger locations.
  • Rigging & Hanging: Install brackets, threaded rods, and hangers to secure ductwork at the required height.
  • System Assembly: Connect duct sections using gaskets, cleats (S-cleats/Drive-cleats), or flanges to ensure airtight seals.
  • Component Integration: Install dampers (fire/volume control), louvers, diffusers, grilles, and VAV boxes into the duct run.
  • Equipment Connection: Connect the finished ductwork to AHUs (Air Handling Units), FCUs (Fan Coil Units), or exhaust fans.

3. Testing & Maintenance:

  • Leak Testing: Perform smoke or pressure tests to identify and seal air leaks using duct sealant (mastic) or specialized tapes.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all installations are level, plumb, and vibrate-free.
  • Repair Work: Modify or repair existing duct systems to improve airflow or accommodate building renovations. [1]
  • Ensure all works meet project specifications, QA/QC requirements, and local authority regulations.
  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and QA/QC inspectors for inspections and approvals.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are used and stored safely.
  • Any other reports or tasks as directed by the Management as and when required.
